A fern for rock gardens. Best grown in shady, wet situations with good drainage. Fronds are yellowish-green and mostly bipinnate. Nativ to Europa, at first known from sea caves near Aberdeen in Scotland.

A beautiful fern, medium-sized with evergreen fronds. New fronds are reddish. The plants are easy to cultivate in moist-dry garden soil. The species is nativ to eastern Asia.

The common male fern is a large fern with erect rhizomes, up to 1,30 m tall. Fronds are winter green if plants are grown in warmer climates. The species is native to Europe and North America.

Dryopteris sieboldii


This fern is distinct from nearly all other wood ferns. Blades are one-pinnate with up to seven large, leathery, oblong-lanceolate pinnae. This species is native to Asia (Japan, China).
